Prof. Damodar Acharya, Director, IIT, Kharagpur delivers convocation address at the first Convocation of HDF School of Management

Former Chairman of AICTE and Director of the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, Dr. Damodar Acharya delivered convocation address at the 1st convocation of the HDF School of Management at its Naranpur campus near Trishulia on the banks of rivers Kuakhai and Kathojodi across the historic city of Cuttack . The HDF School of Management, the first initiative of the Academic Programmes Wing of the Human Development Foundation, launched its flagship program, a two years full time residential Post-Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) in July, 2008. The first batch of students of PGDM who have successfully completed their course were awarded Diplomas on the occasion held on 24th April, 2010. The chairman of the Board of Governors – Padma Shri (Prof.) K. L. Chopra presided over the ceremony. Members of the board from prestigious institutions from across the country such as IRMA, IIM, XLRI, XIM as well as industry and civil society organisation attended along with the members of the HDF Trust.

Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest of the ceremony, Prof. Damodar Acharya, Director, IIT Kharagpur, highlighted some of the landmarks set by Late Prof. C. K. Prahalad, in the field of Management Education and Business Enterprise. Referring to this great man as the Peter Drucker of India, Prof. Acharya, said, the young minds too have all the powers to take our nation to greater heights through difficult terrains. He also gave away the P.K Dash Gold Medal to Ms. Richa Sen, the topper of the batch. He advised the students to deliver value added services with commitments, in their professional life.

Prof. K. L. Chopra, Chairman, Board of Governors, advised the students to develop the attitude of Continuous Learning, Keep Moving, Growing, and Accommodating for the present need of sustainable development.

In a planned departure from conventional practice, HDF School of Management has designed special convocation attire out of khadi procured specially for the purpose. Forty-nine graduating students of the first batch, most of whom have already been placed having successfully completed the rigorous course received their diplomas and took oath out of professional conduct. Parents, well wishers of the institute and members of public gathered in large numbers.
