5th Foundation Day of HDF
Exploring the need for a paradigm shift from the existing
Development Credo: Dr. Parameswaran
The world
is now faced with myriads of problems like poverty,
recession and the likes; Global Warming is the most drastic
amongst them. If things go on like this then an apocalypse
is imminent, quips Dr. M P Parameswaran, renowned Scientist
and National President of Bharat Gyan Vigyan Samity (BGVS).
He emphasized on the need of reexamining the present
development philosophy and insisted for a development credo
which gives ample importance to environment. Contemporary
world is after wealth and material pleasure; gone are the
days of cooperation and collective action. It is distressing
to see the youths in pursuit of material pleasure giving a
deaf-ear to the environment we dwell. “I and my generation
will escape the apocalypse, but you (Youths) may not be so
lucky”, warns a considerate Dr. Paremeswaran. The need of
the hour is to formulation of development principles; giving
ample significance to the world around us, giving importance
to cooperation and collective action.
Dr. Paremeswaran’s inspiring speech, raising concern about
the present scenario of the world, was delivered on the
occasion of HDF’s 5th Foundation day, which was celebrated
in HDF, School of Management. Badrinarayan Patra, Hon’ble
Minister, Higher Education, GoO, was the chief guest of the
event and spoke about the deplorable state of Higher
Education which is, at present, a luxury only the affluent

Higher Education should reach everyone, affluent and
deprived alike. Pravat Tripathy, Hon’ble MLA, Banki, Dr.
Aurobindo Behera, IAS, Principal Secretary, Forest &
Environment Department, GoO, Dr Arabinda Kumar Padhee, IAS,
