Participation of HDF School of Management in “India 2011
Event (1-9 October 2011)” at Trondheim, Norway, Organised by
Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU).
India 2011 Event was organised and hosted by Norwegian
University of Science and Technology (NTNU) at Trondheim,
during 1-9 October. The major goal of the event was to
strengthen cooperation between India and Norway in culture,
research, higher education and business development. A
variety of activities were organised by NTNU to strengthen
collaboration between research communities between NTNU and
India; contribute to the strengthening and development of
NTNU's international profile; create a platform for national
and international participation; promote Trondheim as a city
of culture and knowledge; introduce India to the mid-Norway
region; promote cooperation between Norway and India in the
fields of social and cultural development; mobilise the
research community at NTNU for collective initiatives,
stimulate student exchange programmes between the two
countries; stimulate visiting researcher programmes between
the two countries and; enhance recruitment of Indian
students and researchers in the years to come.
Professors Haribandhu Panda and Smita Mishra Panda were
invited for the 'India 2011 Event' specifically to
participate in the workshop 'Transformation and Friction in
Globalizing India', in which they made a presentation titled
'Environmental Insecurity and Social Friction: Case of Rural
Odisha' which was based on the collaborative research among
NTNU, HDF School of Management, School of International
Studies JNU, Institute of Peace and Conflict Studies, New
Delhi and Centre for Social Development, New Delhi
(2011-2012). Prof. Haribandhu and Smita were also invited to
participate in the 2 day seminar 'India as a Global Power',
in which eminent scholars like Pranab Bhardan (University of
Berkely, California), Amit Bhaduri (Professor Emeritus, JNU)
and others contributed.
Professor Smita Mishra Panda, along with Professor Ragnhild
Lund made a presentation as part of popular lecture series
titled 'Tribal Women in a Global Terrain: New Activism for
Political Recognition', which was derived from their
on-going research on tribal women's activism in Odisha.
There was also a pictorial exhibition organised at the NTNU
Campus on 'Indigenous Women's Livelihoods in Odisha', based
on the research work of the two scholars.
